Nguyen Ngoc My, Vietnamese-Australian: expanding investment in the north

As Chairman of the Overseas Vietnamese Club (OVClub) and General Director of VABIS Investment and Construction Company, Mr. My said that OVClub is managing 11 companies in Hanoi and HCM City.

“This year we will expand our operations to northern provinces. We organized the second trans-Vietnam tour to serve that goal, visiting four northern provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, and Vinh Phuc.

OVClub will establish joint stock companies in some of these provinces, with 60% capital from overseas-Vietnamese, 30% from local companies, and 10% from OVClub. OVClub has formed Overseas Vietnamese Consulting Company which will provide free consultancy services for local enterprises and local Departments of Planning and Investment.”

“OVClub’s action programme in 2006 is to establish OVBank with initial capital of US$500mil to invest in projects and joint stock companies. 20% of the capital will be invested in new OVClub projects. Overseas-Vietnamese enterprises will be pioneers and big foreign financial groups will buy them”.

Joseph Nguyen, Vietnamese-American: establishing Vietnam trading centre in the US

As Executive Manager of the Vietnam US Company in Washington and the Europe – America Joint Stock Company in Vietnam, Mr. Joseph Nguyen hopes to establish a Vietnam – US Trading Centre in the US this year as a bridge for investors on both sides.

“The centre will help Vietnamese companies seek outlets in the US and American businesses seek partners in Vietnam. I’m calling investors of both countries to take part in our project to build trading centres and supermarkets to display Vietnamese goods in states or cities in the US. The project will be carried out in mid-2006 or 2007 at the latest. I also plan to bring at least one group of American business-people to Vietnam to seek investment opportunities. I hope this will become a reality because some American investors are interested and ready to contribute capital.”

Tran Xuan Son, Vietnamese-American: developing WIMAX in Vietnam

Mr. Son works at Silicon Valley and is Director of ViNetworks Company. He is nurturing a plan to call for overseas-Vietnamese who work at Silicon Valley to invest their brainpower in Vietnam. His latest project is developing the wireless WIMAX network in Vietnam in cooperation with the Ministry of Postand Telecommunications.

“WIMAX is new technology that is more preeminent than WIFI. At first we will test the technology in big cities. Vietnam can integrate into the World Trade Organisation with training and technological strategies”.
